This is a very healthy breed. Most common Basenji disease is Fanconi syndrome (FS).
However, it can be easily avoided by buying puppies from healthy, FS-tested parents. The test result is clear, carrier, or affected. Also BAS-PRA genetic eye tests.
If you want to buy a Basenji puppy, request the results of these examinations of both parents. The best result is - Clean, for both parents. It can also be a carrier, but only one of the parents, the other must be clean. Disabled in no way. DO NOT BUY a puppy without these results!
Basenji does not require special care.
